Neighbors helping neighbors meet their basic needs with dignity and grace.

We need your help! We can’t do it without you.

Our vital services lost their decades-long home in SE Portland. We need your support for a new home and the ongoing support we offer in the streets.

Who and What

For 38 years Pat Schwiebert has facilitated an army of volunteers and marshalled the resources to feed and serve SE Portland’s homeless and marginalized communities.  This has been possible through the generous support of individuals and neighbors as well as deep partnership with churches like Bridgeport UCC, Unity Church, Lake Oswego United Methodist, Hope Korean Presbyterian and more.  And, certainly Metanoia Peace Community United Methodist Church has been at the helm of structuring this work and will continue to be the lead fiscal sponsor. These partnerships are deepening and growing as we find those that want to partner with our work.  It is not an overstatement to say that the consistency of these offerings and willingness to always do more has touched generations of Portlanders. 38 years.

In June 2019, after holding space in the Sunnyside Methodist Church at 35th and Yamhill for years, our vital services were given 90 days to vacate the space.

This work needs a new home. And in the meantime, we’re not done. Will you help us?

If you or somebody you know is able to support us in a large-dollar amount and would like to give directly to us, please be in touch. All donations are tax deductible.

We would also love ‘pledge donations’ wherein you give us assurance that if we reach our goal, you are in.  For instance, a friend told me, “I want to give you $10,000 but only if it means you can get that permanent home.”  So I can count on my friend to be a part of the total goal, but if we don’t make it, he can spend his money another way.  If you are interested in this, please give one of us a call.
